Gamblin 1980 Oil Paint 37ml
Gamblin 1980 Oil Colors are made with the same dedication and pure pigments that go into their Artist’s Oils, but are at a cheaper price point. In addition, they use the same process of mixing, milling, filling, and hand labeling.
1980 colors are formulated with pure pigments, the finest refined linseed oil and marble dust (calcium carbonate), rather than using gels or waxes and cheaper pigments like other brands do in their less expensive lines.
With 1980 colors, artists experience colors that are true, without homogenized texture or muddy color mixtures. Gamblins approach of using both traditional raw materials and processes ensures that artists experience the luscious working properties that they expect from their oil colors.

Gamblin Solvent-Free Gel is made from safflower oil and alkyd resin, is non-toxic and contains no Gamsol (odorless mineral spirits) or petroleum distillates. Gamblin Solvent-Free Gel is the only solvent-free painting medium that supports a broad range of painting techniques with minimal compromise. Solvent-Free Gel gives colours more gloss, flow and transparency, yet holds the shape of your brushmark – great for impasto. Dries in 3 – 4 days.
Gamsol Solvent
One of the safest solvents available, Gamsol allows you to thin your oil paints and clean up without the harmful odor of traditional solvents.
- Gamsol is reusable and non-toxic when used as recommended.
- A little goes a long way – stiff oil colours relax immediately when a small amount of Gamsol is added.
- It evaporates 100% leaving no residue in paint layers.
- Gamsol contains less than 0.005% of aromatic solvent which are the most harmful type, having been refined to remove all aromatic components.
- 100% pure odorless mineral spirits.
Note: Gamsol should not be added to painting mediums made with natural resins (dammar, copal or mastic) as they require strong solvents such as turpentine.

Refined Linseed Oil – Gamblin
Gamblin’s Refined Linseed Oil is the palest of linseed oils. Use this linseed oil to thin oil colours and increase their brilliance and transparency, increase flow and slow drying times. Use sparingly or mix with an equal amount of Gamsol to create a traditional slow-drying painting medium.
- Pressed from American flax seeds and refined using an alkali process.
- Linseed oil increases the tendency of white and lighter colours to yellow over time.

All Gamblin Artist’s Oil Paints are completely non-toxic when used as recommended. Most are made with alkali-refined linseed oil as a binder, which creates a strong, flexible paint film and yellows significantly less than cold press linseed oil, the traditional binder in oil paints.

Gamblin Cold Wax Medium
Use this Gamblin Cold Wax Medium to make your oil colours thicker and more matte.
- You can thin to a brush consistency by dissolving it with a small amount of odourless mineral spirits.
- Add Galkyd to Cold Wax Medium Oil colour to increase the sheen and flexibility o the paint film.
- Use a small amount of Cold Wax Medium to make Galkyd mediums more matte.
- Contains no oil, so can be applied as a wax varnish over a dry oil painting.
- Made from naturally white unbleached bees wax, alkyd resin and odourless mineral spirits.
Neo Megilp – Gamblin
Gamblin Neo Megilp is an alkyd resin based soft, silky gel that gives body to the paint, decreases viscosity and can produce a luminous atmosphere. This medium will not darken or turn yellow over time.
Gamblin Galkyd Medium
Gamblin Galkyd Medium is an alkyd resin painting medium that increases the fluidity of oil colours and speeds up their drying time (thin layers will dry within 24 hours). This mediums viscosity is similar to traditional painting mediums made from linseed stand oil. Galkyd Medium levels brush strokes, creates a strong flexible paint film, and leaves an enamel-like glossy finish.
Gamblin Galkyd has a high viscosity and when used in greater proportions to oil colour creates an enamel like quality with minimal visible brush strokes. Gamblin Galkyd can be thinned with Gamsol to create thin (low viscosity) glaze layers (a glaze layer should contain at least 10% oil colour). Gambin Galkyd mixed with Gamsol at 1:1 ratio also makes a great medium for oiling out a painting to unify the surface quality and saturate the colours between layers. Gamblin Galkyd has a fast drying time of approximately 24 hours, depending on weather conditions and humidity levels.
