Schmincke Norma Blue Water-mixable Oil Colours is Schmincke’s latest range of oil paints consisting of 48 highly pigmented colours with a buttery-paste consistency. Norma Blue water mixable oil colours are vegan, low odour, allergy friendly, and do not contain any heavy metal pigments such as cobalt, cadmium or zinc oxide making them eco-friendly.
Being water mixable, these oil paints can be thinned with water and washed away without need for turpentine, white spirit or any other kind of solvent for conventional oil painting making them perfect for indoor painting and classroom use.
These professional quality oil paints all have either excellent or good lightfastness ratings and the range also includes the special transparent colours that Schmincke is renowned for.

Schmincke Refined Walnut Oil
Walnut Oil can be used to clean your brushes as well as a binding component for making your own oil paints, it can also be used as a painting medium, but use only a small amount as walnut oil is slower drying than linseed oil.
To clean your brushes with walnut oil, wipe the excess paint off your brush with a rag, then dip your brush into the walnut oil. Then using your rag wipe the oil paint off the brush. Repeat this process until the paint is removed. Make sure you then wash your brushes with warm water and mild soap a the end of the day – if you leave the oil in the brush it will then dry and become unusable. (Walnut oil makes the paint slide off the brush, as opposed to solvent which dissolves the paint).
- Slower drying and less yellowing than linseed oil.
- Only add small amounts (no more than 20%) to oil paint.
- Great for cleaning your brushes, blending and glazing.
Schmincke transparent watercolour ground allows you to use watercolour, traditionally confined to paper, on a whole host of new surfaces such as canvas, painting boards, wood as well as on acrylic paintings in which the surface remains visible.
Schmincke watercolour ground, forms a fine textured, light resistant, non-aging, even, matt, elastic film that can be over painted (or tinted beforehand) with watercolours, gouache or acrylic colours.
Schmincke Horadam Watercolour Paint Set

Each color has its own independently optimized recipe made of the finest pigments, Ox gall, and traditional binders to produce colours of exceptional brilliance, purity and the highest possible lighfastness. There is no compromise in quality.
Schmincke use an optimal amount of oxgall to avoid undesired coloured formations and undissolved pigment, allowing the perfect flow of colour and their binding medium is Kordofan Gum Arabic from the Sahara region. Due to it the gum differing from year to year it is tested and the best of the batch is selected to use with their pigments.
Horadam colors can be raised from a dried palette without developing globules. Colors that have dried on the palette can be awakened with a wet brush and reused an infinite number of times.
Schmincke colours are fully intermixable. This helps the artist maintain full control of color, even on softer papers. A wide range of colours can be mixed with this set of 12 tubed paints.
