This medium is the foundation of Bob Ross’ ‘Wet-on-wet’ technique and will help oil painters produce beautiful paintings easily and quickly.

Bob’s unique “secret formula” base coats aid in the painting’s foundation and keep the canvas wet, the most fundamental step in Bob’s wet-on-wet painting technique. Smooth and slow drying, they allow blending and mixing right on the canvas.

These basecoats (Liquid White/Black/Clear) allow you to actually blend and mix colours right on the canvas. The Liquid White can also be used to thin other colours for application over thicker paints. The idea that a thin paint will stick to a thick paint is the basis for this entire technique.

Apply a thin, even coat (with long horizontal and vertical strokes) of Liquid White over the entire surface area using a natural bristle brush – do not allow the liquid white to dry before you begin painting.
